It seems to have taken me a while to get here, but at last I made the 60k mark on The Secret King – The beginning.
I am getting really close to the ending of this, which sort of scares me and excites me all at the same time.
Then comes the re-write process. Which I am looking forward to immensely because on my first edit pass I have to put all the extra stuff in that my ‘scriptwriter’ head excludes.
For the most part I would say that the novel is dialogue and some action. I need to add in lots of description and bits to make it flow and read easier. This doesn’t come too easy for me. But is possible with some work. I am aware of it, so that helps me a lot.
I am also hoping that I’ve snookered some beta readers to help me out. Although not sure they’re ready for this draft yet. I guess we’ll see. I might shave it into parts and give them a little at a time.
I am really excited to get to the end of this and whip it into shape. I love this world and the characters are amazing. I hope everyone else will love them as much as me too. Only time will tell with that one though.
Thanks for stopping by…

Ha – maybe we should swap. My first draft novel is full of description and less dialogue and action [I am rubbish at action scenes].
Well done for reaching the 60k mark (I’m 2,500 words off that target myself). It’s great to hear that your excitement is still fresh for the rewrite process!
Keep writing, x
I am up for that, 🙂 Although prob best a chapter at a time. We can work out where we both need to add things then. Could be fun. Love working with other creative people. They bring out the best in any project. Not sure how to swap emails on here though…
I think also we need to be excited for the re-write. We don’t get anywhere in writing without it. And first drafts normally suck. On to the ending and the next draft for sure. Motivation is what we all need. Thanks.
