2 week sickness but getting better :)

It’s been a tough few weeks, falling back in with a bad cold/infection again after my book launch and party. So for the whole last 14 days I’ve pretty much just barely managed to get out of bed, go to work and come home. I’ve let everything slide and I finally made the decision last weekend to stop taking on anymore ‘projects’ because I can’t do them. It was like a wave of everything and suddenly because I got ill I felt like I was drowning in them and would never get back on top.

So, I’ve pulled the plug on a few, and that will give me some time to ‘get better’ I’ve been so exhausted… and to catch up on those things I still need to finish.

Last week in itself was a bunch of meetings and paperwork on top of being sick… but now that things on that side are looking much better, I’m also feeling much better on a personal level.

There is a light at the end of the year, and we’re almost in November too! which means NanoWrimo 🙂 I wasn’t going to do anything and I still might not, but this one character hasn’t shut up all year. So who knows. I might crank her story out or I might leave it.

My muse rules though and if she kicks my butt, I’ll be writing. (she’s trying to,) but I’m still not 100% better, so I’m just playing it by ear for the weekend… honest.

Tonight I’ve caught up on some of the pile, I might be there by the weekend. 🙂

Anyone else doing nano? If you need a friend, I’m always around either way…

Good luck to those who are in.

EXCERPT

From Ch 2:

“I can’t help but worry.” Chace’s hands shook as he locked eyes with Octav. “You know we don’t have a destination.”

“You’re privy to that information.” Octav shot him a glare.  “Do not speak of it.”

A day out to meet Andrew Dodd

It’s been a very very tough week, and although everything for TSK is going so well. I’m in the middle of a blog tour, and a great explosion event on facebook! that losing my cat and work life has been bearable.

But I had the opportunity and the get up and go in me to drive my mum and myself 2 hours to Yorkshire to meet our Sequential artist Andrew.

I am not a confident driver at all. I am not a confident person at all. But, I do know these things and being ‘out there’ with the readers is important so I had better start to get used to being asked questions.

Driving out there was awesome. it felt like I was doing something, not sitting at home being the computer writer. I was really going on a mini adventure.

We did get a little lost at a few roundabouts, you know sat nav’s aren’t that great at telling you where to go, esecially as you’ve passed it. lol

But we got there, we met Andrew and his lovely sister Carol and had a fab afternoon. I got to see how art starts and forms the fantastic inked work we are ready to launch as part of TSK’s website. And I’m in awe such a talented man like seriously talented.

Of course we eventually had to leave, and I’d forgotten half of what I wanted to talk about, but it was good. Mum and I were so hungry we stopped at a calvery on the way out and ate and then headed home. Turning it into a real day out. 🙂

Here are the pics we took… and although really am camera shy I don’t think they turned out to bad 🙂

We’re also having a real live book launch on Friday in my local haunt. I am so excited, and so nervous. 🙂

Oh to be a writer… did I really want this?

You bet ya!

Remembering Spooky….

I can’t say that it’s because I’ve been totally awestruck in everything TSK that I’ve not posted. Last weekend I had to put my 19 year old cat Spooky to sleep. It was one of the worst moments of my life, and has left me feeling really devastated. It’s already been a week, and this sadness is lingering.

It’s so hard, I know I’ll still always have Bobby and he’s so good at keeping me company at the moment. 🙂 I can’t be without a little friend. But I miss my furry one.

I’m going to write up another post for all TSK because so much is going on it’s been the only thing keeping me really from spiralling downwards.

I do want to feel happy again… it will take some time, she was a big part of our lives.

Author Branding and Marketing 101

Excellent blog about something we can all struggle with, some fab tips… go read it!

social media

Marketing is the number one tool for reaching readers. Readers equal customers. Without marketing, who will know you have a book for sale? Gone are the days when you did your job and wrote the story, and the publisher did their job and promoted it.

In today’s publishing world, the author does a good deal, or all, of their own marketing and promotion. Publishers and agents want to know that you are invested in your own success, that you are willing and able to help promote your book.

Getting the Word Out

The day has finally arrived. You’re ready to start submitting to agents and publishers, or you are about to hit send and self-publish your book. Take a moment to consider how you want to present your story to world. Terms like “brand” and “social media platform” are the new kids on the block, and if you want to…
