Ok guys,

The big girl died last night, found her this morning. I am ringing the pro up to see if he can come out today. I need to know what is going on in there.

I will take some pics, but she isn’t pretty.

Her belly isn’t as red as it was, maybe it was all just too much for her. Please pray for my other fishies.

—————————————-

I have done another %50 water change today, but nothing is really getting this nitrite down. It said it was back up to 1.0 today, so frustrated. I got my mum to nip out and get me some kusuri bio ? to deal with the low Kh in my water, so hopefully the ph will stay stable. As for Moby, I am thinking it was perhaps dropsy, as she was all swelled up. I guess I will never know. They can’t tell a lot from a dead fish apparently. I just wish the expert would come out soon, I know he is up to his eyeballs in work. But I just feel so blooming useless. Like everything I do is not working.

I had the worst day in work today because no one else seems to be doing their job while our manager is away. The place is filthy and I am the one being moaned at by customers, I never got paid properly last week so I am skint, and I have a feeling they will do the same tomorrow. We have a meeting with the main boss at 11 and if my wages aren’t in they if he doesn’t pay me cash, I WONT be working on saturday simple as. I have another job to go to, and will make do with that. I just don’t need the hassle any more. Everyone else just takes the piss and everything is left up to me, well its not on. When the manager comes back off his holiday he will be getting told. I am not working on the first till because no one else will clean up…. so I will do as I was hired for the second till and sod them.

Sorry for the rant. Just had enough !!!

Ok,

so my test kits say that the water is…

….. .Pond water
Amonia 0
Nitrite 1.0
Kh 5
GH9
PH 8
Nitrate 20

Tap Water
Amonia 0
Nitrite 0
Kh 4
GH 10
Ph 7
Nitrate 5

I bought kh up and added it to the pond so hopefully it will stabilize… My pond guy is hopefully going to come out before the weekend to take a look at the fish, will keep you informed thanks everyone.

Hi,

So no other way of testing for ammonia until friday now, my nitrite has gone down to 0.5 though. Although still seen one fish flick tonight. Ph is at 7.5 which it has never been before, always 7 or a 8, so that is better with the ph buffer. I will get some more of that also on friday. I am in work 10 – 6 tomorrow, and no where will be open. I will do another water change regardless in the morning, or at least as much as I can. Then again tomorrow night, with no food. I just hope my sturgeon will survive, as they must be starving by now, and I know they don’t fair well without food.

Pond is almost full now, so will be turning tap off for tonight.

Will message you as soon as anything changes.

Thanks

Dawn

Thank you to you both. I have some nitrite out stuff, and have used it. But my level is still 1.0  I have done another major water drop and am just hoping for the best. Haven’t given any food today, and won’t tomorrow until it drops.

I have put up a picture here to see if anyone recognises what is actually wrong with my koi. Her swelling has gone down a bit. But the left hand side is still a lot more massive than it should be. Is this for some reason. Infection? Liver problems? I just don’t know I would like to know more about it, and perhaps why the swell up, is it like water retention?

The second picture is of my chagoi, with the furry face, you can just make out the grey blobs? Again any thought?

Anyway they all are pretty active so still keeping my fingers crossed for them.

—————————————–

It is always the way, I am dropping water to clear up the nitrite and adding the right bacteria stuff. There is nothing I can do at this time of night, I can’t buy stuff from somewhere that isn’t open. Or when I don’t have a credit card.

I know my fish are stressed, but I am trying my best to reduce it. Speak soon.

Oh and just at the right time, my ph testing kit has run out. Everything always happens at once doesn’t it . Damned.

All but the sick one ate this morning, I think she still isn’t happy. Also I think my hawaki (sorry for the spelling) has some fin rot! Will take a closer look later when I get home. Poor things have really been through the mill this week.

————————

I tested water when I got home and nitrite is high so am doing a %50 drop and filling with fresh water, also going to add some bacteria regardless to the filter to help it along. Will have to wait and see what the results are. I am sure my little chagoi has fluff all over his face too, so there is a bacterial infection going on there somewhere. I def need to clear that up any ideas whats the best thing? I am going to catch both fish when Paul gets home. I have an anti bacterial powder stuff which I can bathe them in. Will do that and rub some Koi cream on the yellow ones sore. That will help her along.

Other than that I was thinking about Salt but I really want to wait till I have had the test results before I do that just to make sure everything has gone.

Keep you updated

——————————————————————-

I’ll try and get a picture later when Paul is home. I cant catch them they move to quick for me. He does have a couple of bumps on him, which dont look great, but this was the fish we had problems with in the winter, and he was starting to heal nicely. Now he’s all poorly looking again.

Will put some pics up for sure.

—————————————-

I’ve watched my fish as the pond is refilling, and I have seen three of them flicking still  Could there be something else in there that is causing this ? Or might it be just that the nitrite level is a little high. I have done a 50 water change, I just really really don’t want anything else wrong. I don’t think I can cope if they all end up with sores and stuff.

My yamabuki is swimming around properly now, her fins aren’t clamped anymore, and they all ate before. Am I just panicking over nothing or should I be still concerned?

Just worried over my little wet friends.

Hey all,

Well the Nexus is purged, and with the fish still flicking I am going ahead with one more try with pp. This should stay pink for the alloted time. I was also advised to slightly up the dose and put it in almost in one go.

I am not looking forward to the next few hours, but am hoping that all fish will feel much better once the critter is dead. A scrape is going to be done and then I am going to have to treat for a few sores, my yamabuki has a little red spot developing and he has one fin clamped this morning. Moby however the first to show signs is still swimming around a lot and looks still bothered but her fins aren’t clamped and she isn’t hoovering as much.

Will let you know in an hour or so how I am doing.

I will need all the help I can get to get these poor fish through the next weeks or so, recovery takes time.

Thanks for all the help guys.

10:07

One hour twenty mins later….

Ok so pp has been in over an hour, so far no bad reactions. Even with the sturgeon…. although she is swimming around on the top shelf, nothing unusual. She isn’t floating like she was the other day when we had to nurse her in the oxygen bubbles.

I have taken most of the air off the nexus though and am circulating it into the pond which I didn’t do the other day. So there is an extra air stone going full gallop as well as the pipe and smaller air stone. I have seen two fish bob up once for air, but no one is gasping at the surface. They all swam around rather quickly for about 10 minutes when it first went in, but they have settled down now and when I went over the chagois came up for food, lol. So fingers crossed I am almost there.

If it can keep like this for another few hours, I will be happy. And hopefully Trich will be all dead… At least then I can start to feed some more again as last night after 12pm the sturgeon were rather active and searching for food. Bless them they will be really hungry, and its not fair on them not to feed for much longer.

——————————————————–

11:40

At present the pp is holding strong, and all fish are ok and active when I go near them they come over. So Its 3 hours now which is good. I am watching them very carefully and helping my mum wallpaper our bathroom. Its keeping me from going insane over the fish.

I will def dose with your suggestion, and also start to put other things in regularly to help all the fish.

Update you later in another hour or so.

Cheers without this forum I think I would have been turning to the bottle to keep me sane.

—————————————-

1:31pm

Ok, so it turned orange after 4 hours 40 minutes. I am hoping that is enough to kill the trich, fish look a little stressed but are still swimming about enough and haven’t been gasping or doing anything weird.

Let you know later how they are,

7:49

All fish alive and well… So far so good.

I am in work for the first day tomorrow, so I will be thinking of my poor fishes all alone with no one to watch over them….  Hopefully they will be fine. I am going to give them a little food later and then in the morning. Testing all water parameter’s first….

Will email you in the morning.
