Well treatment for the koi went in this morning. I didn’t double dose, just put one packet in, which treats for 5500 gal, mine is about 4800 tops.

pond is at 13 degrees, a couple of fish acting up tonight, my yamabuki,and a silver one, they are going nuts off the bottom. Do these bugs not like dying, do they bite more or something. Or is the treatment not as effective in the colder weather, I am gonna heat to 15 degrees and re treat in 7 days.

I just don’t like seeing them scratch, poor things.

Okay here we go again.

Flukes this time!!!!

My poor Koi, they never seem to have any luck.  

With them still flicking over the last two weeks, I had the sense to get the professionals in once again. Mike came out and was great as usual. Caught my Utsuri and took two scrapes, gave her a once over to check gills etc. Even let me have a good look too. Then went to check the microscope.

They have flukes, a medium infestation, but still an infestation. 

I am now going to treat with Fluke M, and hope it clears them up. He advised me to give them a pretty heavy dose. So to rid of the blighters and then hit them again once after a week. I just feel so sorry for my Koi, they have really had a s**t year.

Anyway, thought I would inform you all.

Ok,

Little chagoi has come out this morning. I couldn’t see him last night because of the added stuff in the pond. So I caught him by pure luck this morning.
The face fuzz has gone, but he def had a couple of red marks, which while he was caught I treated with Koi cream. He also got a bath for ten minutes in some Anti biotic stuff. Which I think will also do him some good. Its the same stuff I used on him in the winter when he had bad rubs so at least he will be used to the smell and taste of it in his water. Poor little chap. I gave him a good looking over, and nothing else seems to be amiss.

Nitrite is down again, oly just touching on pink, below .25 now, so I am happy. I think I am almost there. Ph is 7 still which is a concern for me, as it normally reads 8. I will just have to try and keep the buffer going in and the other stuff, just to make sure it doesn’t swing. I would like to keep it at 7 if I could.

Everyone is swimming normally and haven’t seen anyone flick (fingers crossed) I am at home more over the next few days so I can watch them more.
