The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

THE NEXT BIG THING BLOG HOP: Dawn Chapman

I’ve never tried this, but here goes. I got this from SOLOMON J. INKWELL which I found by search results.

http://solomoninkwell.wordpress.com/

I liked the idea so here we go… It is a blog hop, so I’ll check out the person who tagged them and see who else I can make friends with too πŸ™‚ I’ve only had small stories published so this year will be a first for me with a novel…

The rules are fairly simple:

Give credit to the person who tagged you.

Post the rules for this hop.

Answer the following ten questions about your current WIP (Work In Progress) on your blog.

Tag one or more other writer/blogger and add his or her link so we can hop on over.

So, are you excited? Yep, me too. So, let’s get started…

What is the working title of your next book?

The Secret King – The Beginning

Where did the idea for the book come from?

I’ve been working on a TV series with a very good writer friend of mine. Steven Kogan over at

Dr. Who Season 1 (2005), or “When does the fun start?”

titled The Secret King and I wanted to take part in Nanowrimo so it just sort of happened.

What genre does your book fall under?

Sci Fi / Fantasy

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a move rendition?

Kendro – Gerad Butler

Mika – Helen Hunt

Captain Hadi – Tim Rozon

Doctor Brie – Dana Delany (she looks like a friend of mine)

Octav – Luke Macfarlane

Chace – Justin Hartley

Wow, that was so much harder than I imagined, but such fun. Bonus.

What is the one sentence synopsis for your book?

With their sun dying, Kendro, King of The Aonise fights to save his people from total annihilation.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?

I am unsure yet. I will test the waters with traditional publishing first, then see alternatives.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of the manuscript?

Forty Seven days.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?

I’d like to not compare it to other authors, hoping it will stand on its own.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?

The love for the world I’d already worked so hard on, and as a TV series script got its first recommend in early 2011. πŸ™‚

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

It will appeal to anyone who loves… fantastic space battles and epic discoveries.

πŸ™‚ Enjoy and if you see this pass it on and message me… not sure if it works like that but hey ho…

It has only taken a year… lol

Oh dear,

I know I am not the most technically minded person. When it comes to websites and blogs stuff. How to set them up really blows my mind.

So, after seeing so many of my friends with their blog roll and previous posts linked onto their page, I wondered how I could get mine there.

And da daaaa πŸ™‚

Finally managed to get it there. Like I say only taken me a whole year.

So, yes, lots more for people to see. Hope that, it doesn’t overload you. The past is just that, the past.

There are a lot of posts, that I transferred from other parts of the internet. Glad that I did keep them, because those sites are no longer live any more. And I would have lost some of the worst and best times of my life.

The end of a year and the beginning of a new one, should be about reflection. I tend to not want to do that. Although it is good to go through and sometimes see and re-live what I’ve been through, I also know it does me no good.

There will be no ‘resolutions’ from me. I prefer to try and keep myself on the same path I have been on for a while. A recovered path, its far too easy for me to think about all the things I used to pledge, so I don’t.

πŸ™‚ Onwards…. a new year, a new frontier to conquer!!!

Will post again later and keep playing with my new found toy. Change… lol

Goodbye 2012

helllooooo 2013…

I am not going to be sad to see this year disappear into the dust.

It has been one of the hardest years of my life, in terms of work, (both for myself and Paul) my home life (a result of work) and my koi. 😦

Too many ups and downs for my liking and I can only hope that this next year has a more positive and happy outcome.

I can say that 2012, has been more positive for my writing. That has taken a much better turn. So I have one thing I am pleased about.

Best Friends, Irobe and working on my Sci Fi TV series and novel for The Secret King.

So, without any hesitation I bid 2012 goodbye. See you on the other side. πŸ™‚

May you all have a wonderful evening with family or friends, stay safe and enjoy.

Looks good in print :)

Wow, so this has taken me most of the day. But, finished printing about 30mins ago.

Twenty Nine Chapters, and 500 (double spaced pages) and 80,429 words.

Of course, it will change in the next few months, more than likely a lot. But, this is the first copy. And it looks awesome πŸ™‚

Here’s a picture….

Have a fab evening all.

Print out day!!!

So yeah, I’ve edited as much as I can. I think its time to print it, a viable first draft.

I’ve a few crits in on the first few chapters, so they’ll be altering in the next few weeks and I’ll decide what and where it needs to go (bar the bin) lol….

So, wish me luck, πŸ™‚

It makes it feel so much more real when you actually have it in print.

Here goes… I’ll post a picture later.

In other news, been out to the ponds today, clean and refresh the water. 2 toads and one frog in the big pond.

My Shiro Utsuri male is looking better, not as pink, so I am thinking that it was a drastic drop in water quality (rain) that made him pink up.

Babies are fine, some of them look stunning. I can’t wait till spring as we’re going to catch them, take pictures and see which to keep and not. I know I’ve promised 10 to a local charity, but they’re twice the size now, so I might only part with a few. That will be up to him.

We’ve got lots to do when the weather warms up. Get the backi shower running on the main pond and then also sort out all the stupid pipes and wires. Too many jobs, but no fish till we straighten this all out. And I make sure there are no parasites about.

Spring is always the worst time of year for them, they don’t like the cold weather, neither do my I 😦 its miserable.

Catch you later…
