Holiday catch up….

Monday,

Paul drove us the 5 hours down to Collumpton in Devon, where we stayed at Forrest Glade Holiday park. It was horrendous on the way down. The rain reminded us of what it was like in August heading to the koi show.

I did attempt a little drive, from Tesco to the site. But it wasn’t nice. Even turning the wheel hurt. This hasn’t been any fun at all these past few weeks. I want things to get back to normal.

Here’s a video of the rain…. https://vimeo.com/77663748

First night in the van was great though. Reminded me what it was like on the riverside when we lived in a caravan. The rain bounced off the roof, all night. It was exhilarating.

Although the bed was a nightmare. My hip and my back ached all night. I knew there was a reason I paid £1500 for a special mattress. To get a nights sleep. But I was surprised to find my arm took a step backwards too. It really hurt. I wasn’t sure if it was the 5 min of driving though. So…. but need I say, I didn’t get to do any more. Hubby was a star and he drove all the time.

Tuesday,

Took a drive and a walk around in the rain to Collumpton 🙂 It was nice and wet. lol But I bought Bobby a little treat, a cat ball with a bell in it. (which he doesn’t like yet though)

Wednesday,

Today we went to Honiton, the sun was out and it was lovely 🙂 Did lots of chilling out as hubby’s full of a cold now. So he’s suffering, as men do. Shame. He’s all cute when he’s like this.

Thursday,

We went to visit Chris at ACM koi 🙂 Was so lovely to see him and his new Koi house. His fish are amazing and really vibrant. Tonight was the only night we allowed ourselves to go out. Cash has been tight so it was great to be out, but didn’t want to go to mad. Dinner was great. Went to ‘Keepers Cottage’ we’ve been there a few times over the last fifteen years.

Friday,

We were up early to finish packing. And it was almost a much easier drive home. Got stuck in three accidents on the Motorways. With not a mention on the radio about the last which was a major one. Tail backs for miles. Took us just as long to get home as it was going as we were stuck for 40 mins in it. Driving past the carnage I felt so sorry for the people involved. Really not a nice situation to be involved in, and I can only hope there were no fatalities.

Got home and mostly unpacked, jobs done. All animals cleaned, fed and watered. It made a nice afternoon, to get to kip in our own bed too. 🙂

So now, Sunday and I’ve managed to catch up on some things. Mum cleaned some of the house while we were away. And she had the cheek to say how mucky it was…. duh I’ve had a broken arm, try cleaning one handed… But it was nice that she did it and looked after all our pets too. Love her to bits.

I have physio again tomorrow, not looking forward to it. But at least back in my own bed it’s not hurting quite as much. I can get some normal amount of sleep if I can call it that.

Onwards, and soon to be in november, eek where has this year gone.

Speak soon.

Dawn

Holiday to Devon :)

After much deliberation on wether we should go or not, we decided that a break away from our home would do us both some good.

Having so much time off work hasn’t done our finances any good. And although we have some savings, it’s deciding on what to do with it that matters.

The car is full of fuel and I’m packed ready to go. Not too sure how much driving I will be able to manage, it’s been 5 weeks now, so I have to give it a go. My arm is without real pain most of the day now, but it’s a dull ache, that is always there. The worst thing is it pops and grinds and that does hurt still. I can’t pick up big things or open out back door with it yet, but I am now managing to eat with it. Big bonus. Handling a fork in your left hand is a nightmare. (so is asking your other half to cut up your meat for you)

There are some other personal things which are still difficult, like combing my hair if it has a lot of knots in it or tying it up. But it’s getting a little easier, and not as painful to try.

So, Devon here we come. I’m taking my Mac, and kindle and plan on lots of nice ‘wet’ walks with my other half. Hoping to catch a couple of friends for an hour or so too. 🙂

My mum is in charge of the pets. Bobby, Spooky, the main pond and the QT, so hopefully all will go okay.

Will let you see some pictures.

Have a good week everyone.

Talking about my Eating Disorder and current issues.

It’s been a real while since I’ve sort of really wanted to chat about some things.

Well, for those on my list who might be triggered, please look away.

Over the 4 years, since I’ve been in recovery. I left Cheadle Royal with a new purpose in life, to really try and enjoy me. And not to let food or things rule my head. And for the most part I have. I’ve not let the ‘weight’ worry me too much. A few people upset me along the way, but I tried not to let ED back in big time.

This last year’s been really tough, with everything that has been going on. But I’ve taken it in my stride. I wanted to be me. Not be ED.

After continually worrying over my weight issue, and with work not helping. I drive a wonderful delivery van. But, it’s a food van. And temptation to ‘eat’ is always there.

Chatting to a few customers this last month about diet etc, triggered me to want to find a solution that would keep me healthy and not let ED back in my hand running havoc.

I’ve chosen to use this particular diet. Where for most of the working week. My intake is mostly liquids. This will help keep my focus ‘off the food on the van’ and give my body all the nutrients it actually needs throughout the day, without just ‘not eating’ because in the past this has just triggered bulimia after my evening meal.

Last week, I followed the plan for three days, and for this one four. I think four will be good for me, so that I can eat something as a treat one of the working days.

I am being monitored properly. Because this is a big decision for me, and one where I do need the emotional support and watching from a professional.

We’ve chatted about a goal and once I’ve reached that goal, then I’ll move my intake up slightly so that it will stay steady. But for the most part, it’s really to try and stop the rubbish I’m just continuing to eat while driving, and it includes breakfast which is something I wasn’t doing anymore.

Weekends… well I’m not going to change much there. I’ve still had the breakfast start to the day. But lunch and dinner with hubby will be required. And I am not giving up alcohol… so ner… lol

——————————

In other news, even though I was supposed to be off work this week. I’ve managed to get a good few things done.

Editing with EJ is so much easier on my macbook. And I’m really happy with it, although it’s taken some getting used too.

The fish, are trying to spawn again. Jeeze… but all is well.

And Bobby, is turning into right a little character. Love him to bits. He’s sitting watching everything I do.

Well must get back to it.

Catch you soon.

Crazy week!

So sorry I haven’t updated much this week. It’s been very busy.

Went back to work, which was tough. The knee sort of holding up, hurts more in the afternoon than the morning after I’ve been driving all day on it.

Wed….

Had to come home from work, and then we were straight out to pick our new family friend up. A collegue of my hubby’s just got himself an African Grey and the poor ringneck he bought last year was being left in his cage, so he offered him to us.

I’ve never owned a bird before, so this experience is totally new for me. I was kinda scared of them in college, because they flew about. But, seeing them be social brought me around.

I am guessing these next few weeks will be more posts about Bobby… as well as my writing and my fish. lol…

Thurs…

Our 15th wedding anniversary. Paul and I got together in June 1996 nearly 17 years of ups and downs. Mostly ups though 🙂

I also had a session with E.J which went very well, the more sessions I have the more I learn about story telling in a prose setting. Where as I am used to doing it in a script writing sense. This is all new to me, as is learning about ‘modifers’ present or past participles. Etc etc…

Friday…

Pauls’ 53rd birthday, he had to go to work but we managed to celebrate later on.

Sat,

We managed to relax a bit. Clean the ponds, check on all the fish. I actually took a few scrapes and some from the sides of the ponds to see what other creatures we have living in them. It was a pretty interesting afternoon, researching what those critters were.

Sun,

We won a new cage for Bobby off Ebay so we went to pick it up from Skipton. It’s a much bigger cage, and we’re still settling him in, so it might be a while before we actually get to put him in it.

All tiny steps. One day at a time. After all it took me months to get my koi to hand feed and to be comfortable with me almost stroking them and picking them up out of the water, so I can only imagine how long it will take for us to get Bobby used to being around us.

Hope this week is a little easier on us. 🙂

Catch you soon.
