Wow!!! where did that come from?

I’m stopping the writing for tonight.

Word count from 61,519 – 63,118

Today’s count 1599

I’m taking a little time today to blog because my characters decided today that their lives would take on totally different path. I guess thinking about what I have written already so far that this tension has been building. Although I didn’t want to acknowledge it, they were ready, so I had to listen.

I am still in shock and awe that it happened tonight. 🙂

Without sending out too many spoilers for this novel and for the TSK TV  series as a whole. I will say that I am not adverse in writing or having any of my characters be ‘gay’, and in the TV series one of my most favourite episodes is ‘Rimono’s story,’ Written by my good friend Steven Kogan and edited by myself. And I just love it. Because it is real and exactly how I envisioned and see the characters involved in the world I first imagined.

When the opportunity arose tonight it just sort of felt natural and right for these two characters (Octav and Chace) to finally admit that they do indeed feel for each other. Will they be able to come to terms with it and their situation in the story… I don’t know. I kind of hope so and I hope that I do them justice.

I have around 20k to still write for this, there is plenty of room for more surprises. I do admit though that this is one of the nice ones.

60k

It seems to have taken me a while to get here, but at last I made the 60k mark on The Secret King – The beginning.

I am getting really close to the ending of this, which sort of scares me and excites me all at the same time.

Then comes the re-write process. Which I am looking forward to immensely because on my first edit pass I have to put all the extra stuff in that my ‘scriptwriter’ head excludes.

For the most part I would say that the novel is dialogue and some action. I need to add in lots of description and bits to make it flow and read easier. This doesn’t come too easy for me. But is possible with some work. I am aware of it, so that helps me a lot.

I am also hoping that I’ve snookered some beta readers to help me out. Although not sure they’re ready for this draft yet. I guess we’ll see. I might shave it into parts and give them a little at a time.

I am really excited to get to the end of this and whip it into shape. I love this world and the characters are amazing. I hope everyone else will love them as much as me too. Only time will tell with that one though.

1000 words a day

Well, so far this week I am still trying to keep my nano objectivity. I was hoping to write the 1500 a day, but it is a struggle without the other people egging me on. So, I have decided that I am happy with 1000 a day.

At this rate I am still hoping to finish this month. That is a more realistic goal I think for myself.

Weekends are planned, so can’t really get much in there, although I would love to sit and write for 10 hours like I did a couple of weeks ago. Not going to happen in December, party month. And also my birthday. 🙂

What are your goals this month then? anyone?

I have also been a little easier on myself regarding time. I am allowed to go and visit others blogs, and I am allowed to read and comment. So this will help I hope in contacting other like-minded people, so hopefully getting to know others will help keep me on track. At least that is the plan.

Oh, and early nights are nice… reading before bed is just bliss. I had missed that.

The goal

I’ve had a couple of days of just pottering about with the writing and this morning we went out to get a little shopping so I didn’t get to do as much as I wanted.

However, I was quite impressed with today’s output.  1500 words… taking my total to 44,500

More for the creativeness of it than the word count. Having characters inside a whole story world come to life and make their own decisions is just amazing.

The TSK world is solid, plotted and planned. But, there is still room for characters to pop and come alive.

That happened today with a character who is in the series, but hasn’t yet appeared in the novel. It was totally enlightening.

I now have had to set myself another goal. Now that nanowrimo is technically over and my novel isn’t finished, it would be so easy for me to procrastinate December away and not get it done. I want to get it done however for my birthday weekend. 15th of Dec.

So, writing 1500 words a day and I should meet my target. I should have this part of the puzzle done and dusted. Will it be easy? No… because these characters are alive, thinking and feeling.

I guess I will have to see what happens… it is just so exciting though.

Once I have it finished, I am going to take a little break, print it out and then start the editing/organizing process.

A treat :)

So, seeing as I’ve just been paid from work and I’ve just gotten over the 50k mark in nanowrimo. I completed the purchase of three domain names.

I didn’t know which to nab so took the above. 🙂

Of course this is to go with the whole TSK novel/TV series. etc etc…

We are looking to launch one of them early next year, (prob around easter) full of all kinds of goodies etc all to do with the series.

Well I do have to have a goal, and at present this is it.

Keep plodding on everyone. Last day of writing tomorrow, then you can chill for a bit…
