Boxing Day :)

Well, the last couple of days have been really nice and relaxing. πŸ™‚

And after an eventful Christmas day, cooking for my husband and my dad and step mum. I slopped off to bed last night at 9pm and slept right through to 9am.

I was exhausted. But in a very nice way.

So today, I am editing, writing and chilling out once again. Jobs are all done and the house is clean. I have my fav friend next to me, trying to push me off the couch. She won’t win!

The editing/writing is going well. I’m at present going through and eliminating all the things I know I over do in a first draft.

I tend to write passively, so fixing those spots up is a must. After all a story should be active and exciting….

Then there are some word choices I know I write which are ‘lazy’ so they’re next on the list. ‘nodded’ and ‘looked’ are some of them.

I would think dialogue will be my next hit. Lots to do huh…

What are your writing ‘habits’ that you have to go back and fix?

What is your most overused word?

Happy Boxing day πŸ™‚

I wanna scream and shout…

and let it all out!!!!!

Word count from 76,484 to 80,819

Today’s count 4335

FINITO!!!!!

Today I wrote the most amazing finale ever. (Come on if I can’t be excited about it, who can)

And writing those last two words was the most amazing feeling ever!!!

I am so thrilled to have finished this one, and yes of course I am sad too.

I posted on facebook this afternoon about the type of ending people like to read. And for the most part everyone wanted me to be true to the characters and to the story. So I was.

I am going to be of course open to suggestions when the beta readers get it.

I am sitting now, enjoying a pear cider. Then I think I need to sleep for about a week!!!

Next job, the big spell check and proof, then first print off.

πŸ™‚

But for tonight. I celebrate….

Hit the 10k mark :)

So, working really hard on nanowrimo. The ideas and the characters are flowing really, really well. This has been the blessing I have been waiting for.

It is such a shame that I didn’t have this motivation last week while I was on holiday, but hey ho.

I’ve had some time to also plot, plan and organize the world that I am writing in. Because it is part of The Secret King series there are already rules, established characters and plot points that I can work around, so ‘The beginning’ isn’t too difficult.

One thing, I am finding a little difficult is names. I need people to be remembered, but I also don’t want too many to become involved either, so each one must count.

I like organizing however, the series bible is extensive, the world solid. So, now it is also going to be colour coded too, so that anyone who comes into the series at a later date. (like my good friend and animator) he can totally follow where what and who everyone is.

I always back up, so having a hard copy as well as a paper one is great. I can take the paper one anywhere I go. And the word files can be accessed through my drop box account.

Everyone should have a dropbox account. A safe place to store all your work and you can access it anywhere. Brilliant.

So, now that I have reached the 10k mark, I am going to relax for a little bit, read and then off to bed.

Night, night all.

And for those who are doing, nano… keep going. It is possible.
