Hey everyone.

So he seems much much better, redness is subsiding, he is eating loads and swimming much more. I didn’t even get chance to open the gate when he was waiting with the others for food this morning.

:)

So so glad and much happier that he is.

Have a fab day everyone.

Hey all,

So big boy was feeding this morning, he was asleep under the shelf and has pinched my Big Chagoi’s spot :)when I came home though he was sulking on the bottom, he soon came over for food though and ate a lot. I watched him for about 30 mins, he flicked once. Tonight he’s sulking a little bit, but then swims about, goes back to sulking.

His behaviour isn’t as bad as it was. Actually I’ve been reading up on introducing new koi and the facts that if they’re in a bag for long periods of time it actually lowers the ph, so adding pond water to the bag isn’t a good idea, or putting them in a bowl of water from the pond. I might have done more damage by doing that, thinking I’d be helping acclimate them. But putting them right in the pond would have done the same really with ph shock.

Will keep learning and reporting in. :) I still think he’s doing much better.

Hey here,

Well, this morning he’s eating so fingers crossed hey…. Yeah I agree we all need warm weather. Lots of it, then we can get all the jobs we need to do outside, like fix the Qt and take an old chimney stack down. :)

Guess it just takes a white koi a long time to settle down, but I should know as my male shiro is the same when we caught him the other year and he had trich, all his blood vessels burst and he looked like he was bleeding. I think that took about 4 weeks to subside. He does the same when you catch him for anything.
I have to say though, when I went over there this morning and he was sat at the other side of the pond you should have seen the speed he swam over to meet me for food, greedy thing.

Fingers crossed for all the new fish…. :)

Speak later,

LATER

Progress?

I don’t know, I’m yet to think positively about this. But this is the first afternoon that the male has eaten. As soon as I went over with the white pot.. (He was still sat at the bottom of the pond mind) he came over straight away and actually started to push my other fish out the way… I can only hope that the salt bath did him some good. :)

While cleaning my filter, I watched them all very carefully he’s swimming a lot slower now, and just in general doesn’t seem as erratic, the female as far as I’m concerned likes sucking on the liner, because she does nothing else till you chuck food in and then she scarpers across to gobble as much as she possibly can.

I watched for 30 mins and no flicking!!!!! blob blob blob blob blob blob

This is a first….

Will keep a close eye on them all as per usual. Filling up again with fresh water, through the decholrinator of course…. Heater is on at steady 16 degrees, will def leave it on, something seems to be working. Be it the warmer water, the sansai in the food and in the pond or the salt bath. FINGERS CROSSED!!!

Thanks for listening, and being there…

Got the salt today and gave him a salt bath, he was quite difficult to catch even though he’s stressed. :(

Used a 3% solution and got him in the bowl, but he started to freak out big time even more, after 10 mins started to roll over on his side. So we had to put him back in the pond. Qt varies too much in Ph, so he’s back where he started, probably even more stressed from being caught.

He was swimming around, but now he’s still back to flicking himself silly off the sides of the pond. Paul is convinced he’s going to die, as he’s never seen a white fish so red before. I’m hoping that the salt has at least eased the bad cuts and missing scales.

Fingers crossed hey, all we can do.

I wonder how long it took him to settle in at ACMI?

So Friday and this is how things are.

Male is still pinkish with red bits. He has a few good cuts, but they are healing well. Female seems fine although she settles on the bottom now and then, not clamp finned or anything. I am just putting this down to her sheer size, she is massive… first to the food and still comes near me for more when the others are chasing gown each other to fight… She actually even feeds from my hand already :)

So will keep doing as I am doin…

Another MASSIVE bonus, the little carp pox ridden fish that we were thinking of getting rid of, well its almost all gone!! he is back to being black with just a hint of what was there. I am going to try for some more pics or even a vid of them all this weekend.

Pond still has its leak… although I think the water changes every day are actually doing it some good. Save for having to top up with sansai….

Oh well, speak laters. :)
